Second Entry : MALAYSIA SPACE PROGRAM CHRONOLOGY

On 5 August 2003 ,Malaysia signed a contract to acquire 18 Sukhoi SU-30MKM from Russia through package worth about USS900 juta. As a return, Russia will buy Malaysian palm oil, space technology transfer and training of Malaysians become Malaysia's first astronaut.

Then on 7 August 2003 , Malaysia's first astronaut program was announced by the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Next on October 2003 , over 11,000 applicants registered online to become Malaysia's first astronaut. Next stage is on 26 March 2004 , director general of the national space agency (NSA), Prof. Othman announced the country's first astronaut program delivery delayed until 2007. On 28 ogos 2005 , Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis launch astronauts in the royal air force base malaysia (RMAF), Kuantan, Pahang.  The running as far as 3.5 kilometers must be completed in 20 minutes with 435 people taking part and of these only 199 are eligible. Next on 24 September 2005 , a total of 59 candidates astronaut medical test manjalani aerospace medical institute five-day flight, the RMAF base in Subang. On 6 January 2006 , a total of 27 astronaut candidates who successfully passed the test of aerospace medicine for five days from September 26, 2005 to test swimming at the RMAF base in Subang. Next on 14 March 2006 , Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the selection of four astronaut candidates Dr Faiz Khaleed captain, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, S.Vanajah and Mohammed Faiz Kamaluddin for training in russia. On 27 April 2006 , four astronaut candidates left russia to last through a more complicated process in terms of the criteria determining the physical, physiological and psychological. Next on 4 September 2006 , Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced Dr Muszaphar and Dr Faiz Khaleed captain as astronaut candidates for training at the Yuri Gagarin cosmonaut training center, Star City, Russia for 12 months. 

On 9 October 2007 , the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis from the Baikonur Cosmodrome Kazakhstan announced that Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor was selected as the country's first astronaut.

 On 10 October 2007 , the first astronaut Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor depart ISS Soyuz TMA -10 rocket russia made ​​from the Baikonur Cosmodrome launch site precisely at 9.21pm Malaysian time. Finally on 21 October 2007 , Datuk Sheikh Muszaphar safely  return to earth together with Soyuz TMA-10 capsule that brought him and two other crew members. They landed in Arkylk, Kazakhstan is about 1500 km from Moscow at about 2:37 pm local time (6:37 pm Malaysian time) after traveling for 3 hours 23 minutes from the ISS.
